On Monday, December 16, Ambassador Edward McMullen visited the Federal Polytechnic University in Lausanne (EFPL), which celebrates its 50th birthday this year. After a warm welcome and presentation by the EPFL President, Martin Vetterli, the visit proceeded to the laboratory of Prof. Pierre Dillenbourg, where digital and virtual technologies are developed to be used in vocational education. The laboratory is housed in the amazing Rolex Learning Center. The visit was followed by two discussion rounds, one with Jean-Philippe Lallement, Managing Director of the EPFL Innovation Park Foundation, and Olivier Crochat, Executive Director of the Center for Digital Trust. To finish off the afternoon, Ambassador McMullen met with American Fulbright Students currently doing research at the EPFL at a small aperitif.
The university has many ties to the U.S. through research, academic exchange, investments and start-ups from the EPFL going to the United States. The hope is to extend these relations even further in the future!
We would like to thank the EPFL for its warm welcome and wonderful afternoon.
