Ambassador LeVine and Eric LeVine Visit Thurgau Canton’s Government and Education Leadership

On September 27, 2016, Ambassador LeVine and her husband, Mr. Eric LeVine, visited Thurgau Canton. They met with representatives of the cantonal government, Deputy President Carmen Haag, Minister Cornelia Komposch-Breuer, Minister Dr. Jakob Stark and Minister Walter Schönholzer in Frauenfeld to explore avenues to broaden bilateral cooperation. They discussed the strategic importance of the region bordering Lake Constance, focusing on areas of economic collaboration that would mutually benefit the United States and Switzerland such as promoting tourism. This was Ambassador LeVine’s second visit to Thurgau. Avery Dennison Materials Europe GmbH and General Dynamic European-Mowag GmbH, both American companies, have offices in Thurgau and provide hundreds of jobs.

In Kreuzlingen, Ambassador LeVine and Mr. LeVine met with leadership at the teacher’s college (Pädagogische Hochschule Thurgau), Prof. Claudio Zingg and Dr. Barbara Kohlstock, to learn more about the Master’s program on Early Childhood. They agreed on the importance of imparting to the students that education should transcend borders.
