On January 5, Ambassador LeVine kicked off the annual Zurich Winterrede series organized by the Karl der Grosse Center and the City of Zurich. In the free speech tradition of the Hyde Park Speaker’s Corner, Winterrede invites speakers from the world of arts, politics, science and diplomacy to speak their minds from a window overlooking an historic square in Zurich. In her talk – the first of the series — Ambassador LeVine pointed out the positive global trends in lowering poverty levels, decreasing hunger and other indicators, and emphasized the need to “take on other major global challenges that threaten our safety and our quality of life– especially if we act both together and as individuals.”
