On June 30, 2014, Ambassador Suzan LeVine met with members of the Swiss Game Developers Association (SGDA) and Game Design Students for a roundtable discussion. The group shared their thoughts on the current state of the Swiss game developing scene and told the Ambassador about the challenges and possibilities they face in Switzerland.
The SGDA is an independent association of the Swiss gaming industry and it represents companies in Switzerland involved in the creation, development, publishing and distribution of games. The association’s main aim is to foster sustainable growth of the gaming industry in Switzerland and to support its members to achieve national and international success.
During the roundtable discussion, the Ambassador stressed the importance of game development as a playground for innovative ideas and cutting-edge technologies. The roundtable participants were very enthusiastic about the opportunity to connect to the Embassy and to put forward their ideas on how to increase the cultural exchange between Swiss and U.S. game developers.
During the event, the Embassy live-tweeted pictures and quotes from the discussion, which were widely re-tweeted and discussed by game designers and start-up companies in Switzerland.
