Ambassador LeVine welcomed Delaware Governor Jack Markell to Switzerland May 7 -8. Governor Markell was in the country to participate in the prestigious St. Gallen Symposium and speak about the global impact of small states.  On May 7, on the sidelines of the Governor’s participation in the symposium, Ambassador LeVine and Governor Markell met with a number of Swiss business leaders and prospective investors in the United States.  They discussed the resurgence of the U.S. manufacturing sector, U.S. labor productivity, and the Governor’s groundbreaking work pairing Delaware community colleges with corporations to train information technology workers.

On May 8th, Ambassador LeVine and Governor Markell met with two Swiss companies in the Rhine Valley, both of which have sizable footprints in the U.S.  The first, Leica Geosystems, manufactures products and systems for the surveying and geographical industry.  The second, the SFS Group, produces high-end fastening systems.  At both facilities, Ambassador LeVine and Governor Markell met with company leadership to discuss avenues through which they could collectively increase FDI into the United States as well as vocational education and training opportunities for American workers.
