Demonstration Alert

Demonstrations are expected to take place on August 14, 2017 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the main train station in Bern and then possibly move to the Bundesplatz or in the direction of the U.S. Embassy.
The Young Socialist Party (JUSO) intends to protest against Nazism and in support of the victims from the Charlottesville, Virginia demonstrations over the weekend.
Local police are aware of the demonstration and are closely monitoring the situation. Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence. Avoid demonstrations or protests and exercise caution around large gatherings.
Monitor local media reports, follow directions from local officials, and take appropriate actions.
