On July 10, Ambassador LeVine visited the Swiss Reinsurance Company Ltd (or “Swiss Re”), one of the world’s largest and most successful reinsurance companies. During the Ambassador’s visit she discussed U.S. priorities in Switzerland with Swiss Re’s COO Thomas Wellauer, as well as the significant role Swiss RE has played in recent U.S. crises including hurricanes Katrina, Wilma, and Rita, and the 9/11 terrorist attacks. In addition to their operation in Switzerland, Swiss Re operates offices in more than 20 countries and has over 11,000 employees worldwide. The company earns more than 40% of its revenue in the US, and employs over 2,500 U.S. employees.
