On May 30, Chargé d’Affaires Tara Feret Erath visited the Kantonsschule Wil to talk to students about U.S. history during the 1960s. The students participated in a special focus week during which they gained in-depth knowledge of developments in the U.S. in the 1960’s and especially in 1967.
In her presentation, the Chargé focused on civil rights developments during the 60’s, highlighting the role social changes such as growing suburbanization and how the increasing popularity of TVs as a mass media played in these developments. After her presentation, she engaged in a discussion with the students. They talked not only about these historic developments, but also about the students’ views on the importance of continuing the civil rights discussion today.
