American Citizens Abroad (ACA)
The ACA is a worldwide non-profit organization, with the Swiss chapter based in Geneva. The website has extensive information on banking, taxation, FBAR, and FATCA.
Swiss Bankers Association (SBA)
The SBA provides information on opening a consumer account at a Swiss bank, including documents required.
Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts (FBAR)
U.S. citizens and residents with a financial interest in, or signatory or other authority over any foreign financial accounts must file on Form 1040 and Form TD F 90-22.1 with the U.S. Department of the Treasury before June 30th of the following year.
Foreign Account Tax Compliance (FATCA)
Some taxpayers will be required to file the Form 8938, Statement of Specified Foreign Financial Assets, with their income tax returns, when the total value of their specified foreign financial assets exceeds certain amounts.

U.S. Citizens who have had difficulty maintaining or opening bank accounts at their local branch may wish to inquire about banking services at branches in Geneva, Bern, Basel, or Zurich, as some banks are serving these customers at regional centers.
