The Embassy hosted U.S. Fulbright scholars in Bern last week. The Americans are wrapping up their year of research in Switzerland as part of the Fulbright scholarship program. The ten students arrived in the fall of 2017 and have been working in Basel, Zurich, Bern, Lausanne and Geneva doing research in the areas of IT, physics, environmental science, human medicine, and biotechnology/biochemistry. During the meeting at the Embassy, the students talked about the cultural differences between the two countries and the differences in educational and research systems.
Every year, eight to ten Swiss students and scholars go to the U.S. on a Fulbright grant to study for a Masters or PhD degree or to do research. In return ten U.S. students come to Switzerland. If you are a Swiss national and you are interested in applying for a Fulbright grant, please go to swissuniversities or write to fulbright@swissuniversities.ch.
